While many of these patterns are understood and employed by songwriters, the sheer variety of the ways sound can be manipulated prevents it from becoming a tired form of expression, continually developing and evolving.
Music will likely be around as long as human society exists. And many of us couldn't imagine how their lives would be without it.

Where are we now?

Today, music is more accessible than ever. The entire history of recorded music is available to most of us via the computers in our homes and the phones in our pockets. Streaming platforms and social media have made it easier for artists to share their work and connect with fans across the globe. This has led to a diverse and vibrant music scene, where artists from different backgrounds and genres can thrive.

Music of the future could be even more interesting. While technology has always enhanced and shaped the variety of music being made, we now stand on the cusp of an entirely new method of composition. Artificial intelligence will not only be used to produce music in the future, but will also compose the very songs themselves, playing the part of the creator as well as the instrument.

Where this will go is impossible to guess. No doubt the consumers will direct the way that music shifts. Perhaps whole new unpredictable genres are waiting to be discovered. Very soon we will be listening to music entirely conceived and created by AI. While some may want to put their fingers in the ears at the very notion of music entirely designed by computer, others can't wait to see what's ahead.
If music has taught us anything it's that holding onto ideas of the past is often the wrong approach. Hasn't it always been a trope that parent's lament the state of the modern music that their kids adore?

Music has also become an integral part of our daily lives. It accompanies us during our workouts, sets the mood for parties, and provides solace during difficult times. It has the power to transport us to different worlds, evoke memories, and bring comfort when we need it most.
